MARGEURITE HOLM Peacefully, after a long and productive life, Margeurite Holm passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Gimli Health Centre. Marge is survived by her daughter Barbara Weik (Albert), her son Dale (Cookie), and her grandchildren Dean Weik, Jeffrey Weik (Nicole), Kelly Weik, Andrea Thomasson and great grandsons Brody and Dylan Weik. She is also survived by her sister Monica Sigurdson and brother-in-law Baldur Stefanson. Marge was predeceased by her parents Jessie and Art Foster, by her husband Steinthor, and by her siblings Doris Hallet, Edith Winter, Phyllis Sigvaldason, Harold (Bud) Foster, Tom Foster, Mabel Stefanson and Ray Foster. Also predeceasing her were brothers-in-law Wilfred Holm, Ragnar Holm, Kris Sigvaldason, Kris Winther, Joe Paulson, Gunnar Sigurdson and sisters-in-law Begga Holm, Vilborg Holm, Olga Paulson, Addie Foster, Ellen Foster and Veronica Foster along with nephews Neil Winther, Baldur Paulson, Allan Hallet, Raymond Sigvaldason, Wayne Foster, Douglas Holm and niece Jona Paulson. Marge enjoyed creating beauty. While living on the farm her flower gardens were very large and very well tended. She spent her winters creating needle point pictures, embroidery and dozens of afghans. Her house often smelled of homemade bread, cinnamon buns or cookies. Every child who visited her went home with a pocket full of those cookies. Our mother was a kind, warm and humorous women who, especially in her later years, truly appreciated the people around her. She often remarked that her brothers and sisters "sure had nice kids". Her nieces, who never seemed to busy to share a coffee or take her shopping kept her feeling young and cared for. Sylvia, you have been a godsend and we will always be grateful for your friendship and support. And to mom's special friend and caregiver Joanne Bjorgford, thank you for the years of caring. She spoke of you often. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Vidir Cemetery. Following the interment a memorial service will be held at Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church in Arborg at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church, Arborg.
