ANNA KROEKER August 2, 1930 - April 11, 2014 Surrounded by her children and sister Tina, Anna was lifted into the arms of Jesus after an almost two year battle with cancer. In Heaven she was joyfully reunited with the love of her life Jacob (2007), granddaughters Sharon (2009) and Carla (2012), her parents Peter (1947) and Agathe (2001), and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Left to mourn this incredible loss are her children: Frieda with daughters Shirley and Art Rempel (Makayla, Isabella), Lindsay and Steve Stoesz (Kyla, Jaylene, Nicco, Maddox, Piper), Ainslie and Devin Penner (Sophia, Geneva, Cooper), Kathleen and Ken Skadal (Shepherd, Jubilee); Karl (Jackie), children Matthew and Tusa Kroeker (Ziarah, Ayanaquinn, Kaius, Tao), Emma Kroeker; Vic (Nicole) Kroeker (Mireille). Also mourning are her siblings Helen (Hans) Regier, Tina Wiebe, Mary (George) Kampen, Peter (Susie) Enns, John (Hedi) Enns, Erna (Vic) Reimer. Anna was baptized upon confession of faith at 17 in Germany after the war. Her family was then relocated to Chaco, Paraguay with the help of MCC. Here she met Jacob Kroeker, they fell in love and married in 1950. Together they would live in Paraguay, Argentina, and in 1956 Canada. She started working in a sewing factory the day after she arrived in Winnipeg and she never stopped working. After Vic was born she cleaned homes and eventually had her dream job, operating a hobby farm with Jacob. There they kept hives and produced honey, planted huge vegetable gardens, fruit trees and raspberry bushes for u-pick. Until they started producing honey they spent the summers at their cottage at Lester Beach. Winter holidays took them to Mexico, Dominican, and Hawaii. In the fall they enjoyed Radium Hotsprings. Mom had a true servant's heart, she spoiled her kids with fresh packaged vegetables in the summer and wonderful meals, baking and desserts. Her many friends enjoyed lavish dinners at her home and incredible barbeques at their farm. Mom sang in the ladies choir and served as a volunteer at her church. She also belonged to a ladies Bible study and wonderful game group that she so enjoyed. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest source of pride and joy and they loved her dearly. Mom loved unconditionally. Many who called her Oma and were treated as her own were not even biologically related. Mom was the rock of our family and her loss will be felt every day. Our thanks to Don Boschman and Adam Robinson for pastoral visits, the Palliative Care team especially Anne Ediger, and to Dr. Daeninck for their compassionate care. Viewing will be held only on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas Mennonite Church, 1517 Rothesay Street. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MCC.
