Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA PAULS (KRUEGER) August 14, 1925 April 10, 2014 Peacefully on Thursday afternoon, April 10, 2014 at Bethania Nursing Home Anna Pauls (Krueger) went to be with her Lord. She was born August 14, 1925 to Jacob and Katharina Krueger (Letkeman) in Slavgorod, Siberia. Her father passed away when she was nine leaving her mother widowed at the age of 35, raising a young family of four. They lived in the village of Nikolaidorf, Ukraine until 1943 when they fled to Poland. Life was trying during the war years and many difficult situations were endured. Their faith was tested, yet God prevailed and had things under control. In February, 1948 after spending 18 months in a Refugee Camp (Gronau Westfalen) Germany she and two siblings and future husband Artur along with many others boarded the ship "The Heinzelman" bound for Paraguay, where land had been promised to hard working Mennonite people who would be willing to farm the land. Anna married Artur Pauls on April 17, 1948 and spent nine years homesteading in Paraguay, where the first three of their five children were born; Peter (Linda), Tina (Brian) and Anni (Herb). In 1957 Mom and Dad immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg, MB. They had two more sons, Arthur (Karin) and Paul David (Carla) born in Winnipeg. In addition to being a homemaker Mom worked jobs including market gardening, house cleaning and catering at the Airliner Hotel. Her favourite though, was working a stretch at the Canadian Red Cross. She enjoyed working side by side with Dad on different home projects and could have coined the phrase, "equal opportunity employment". Mom was predeceased by her father, mother, oldest sister and her husband Artur of 53 years. She will be sadly missed by her five children and in-laws, 14 grandchildren and spouses and 22 great-grandchildren, one sister and one brother. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay with viewing one hour before the service. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Many thanks to the staff at Bethania for the care they provided to Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home.

Mrs Pauls and her husband were very good friends of my parents Heinrich and Justa Pauls. We were guests in their home often and Mrs Pauls was always a gracious and friendly hostess and fabulous cook. She always made us feel welcome. She is with her husband and my parents probably visiting with each other. The family is in our prayers. - Posted by: Reinhold Heinrich Pauls (family friends) on: Apr 15, 2014
