JOHN KLASSEN 1931 - 2014 It is with a measure of sadness and thankfulness that we share the news of the passing of John Klassen from this life into eternal life with his Lord, Jesus Christ, April 23, 2014. John was born in Winnipeg on February 15, 1931, to Isaac and Gertrude Klassen. He enjoyed several sports in his youth, and curling, football and golfing throughout his life. John spent much of his career in sales and enjoyed interacting with others, especially through stories and humour. In his later years he would often visit the ill and shut in; and his Lord and his family were the center of his life. Going before him into eternal life were his parents, his first wife Katie (Schellenberg), brother Alf and daughter-in-law Debbie. Missing him already, yet looking forward to a great reunion, are wife Norma, children Garth (and Peggy), Karen (and Curtis), Lori (and Don) and Larry (and Jane), as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and a wealth of dear friends. The family would like to thank the wonderful care of Dr. Grass and the very special doctors and nurses of the palliative care unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Romans 6:5 "Since we have been united with him (Jesus) in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was." Viewing on Sunday, April 27, 2014 7:00 p.m. at the Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Avenue; interment at Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Monday, April 28, 2014 9:00 a.m., and a service of celebration of John's life at the Portage Avenue Church Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Donations in memory of John Klassen can be made to St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
