Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTIN HAMM On Wednesday May 7, 2014, right after his breakfast, Martin Hamm, aged 93 years, of Winnipeg, MB, went to heaven. Martin was born June 26, 1920 in Russia, the oldest of 11 children born to Martin and Maria Hamm. He came to Canada as a young child, where his family settled in Elie, MB. Martin grew up on the family farm and served in the army from January, 1943 to April, 1945. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Anne Eleanor Dyck. Martin and Anne have six children, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, with more on the way! Martin was a man's man. He worked several jobs, on road construction, as a mechanic, and ultimate fix-it man. He retired from Midland Concrete in 1985, where he had worked for nearly 20 years. He loved his family, cars, tractors, ice cream, watching wrestling, telling jokes, and building fires. After he retired, his favourite pastimes were model trains, bowling, Skip-Bo, and Tile Rummy. Martin took wonderful care of his dear "little woman" and family. He is survived by his loving wife Anne (she called him "her man"), children: Walter (Sharon), Betty (Bob), Alice (Ken), Karin (Gene), Peter (Ingrid), and Sylvia (Tony); grandchildren: Jenni (P.J.), Ana (Brian), Kristie (Graham), Sherry (Tim), David (Daphne), Phil (Julie), Alyson, Paul (Megan), Kari (Ron), Mark (Alyssa), Barry (Cheliza), Erin (Aaron), Carl (Sherri), Ryan (Stacy), Kiera, Lukas (Teresa), and Hannah; great-grandchildren: Dylan, Sol, Ari, Bella, Madeline, Tyler, Ainsley, Mason, Lukas, Finley, Mahina, and Evey. He is also survived by three brothers, Vic, Cornie, and Jake, as well as many extended family members. The family thanks the wonderful staff at Donwood Manor for their excellent care. He always said to us that he was well taken care of. We also appreciate the way everything was looked after with dignity, warmth, and respect by Friends Funeral Service. On Tuesday, May 13, 2014, all are welcome to a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at Eastview Community Church, 3500 De Vries Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. A private family burial will have taken place. Donations may be made in Martin's name to Donwood Manor. Goodbye to our dear husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Opa. We will remember your goodness to us and your fun-loving ways.
