Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE IRENE PRINS (nee WINIASZ) November 8, 1946 - May 7, 2014 After a lengthy battle with illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Irene Prins, 67, of Winnipeg, a loving mother and friend to many. Joyce was a beautiful young woman, and at the age of 16, she caught the eye of a handsome man, her (ex) husband, Mr. John Prins. Falling in love, they were married 31 years and had three children: Brenda, John (Kara) and Douglas (Laurie) who are mourning their mom's passing with heavy hearts. Joyce was known as "Baba Jo" to her seven grandchildren: Jenna, Jessica, Vanessa, John Jr., Carter, Alister and Calli. Joyce was predeceased by her parents Frank and Regina Winiasz, as well as her brother Teddy. During her childhood, Joyce grew up in the North End, on Burrows Avenue, with her siblings: Lillian (Don) Hamilton, Teddy (Joanne) Winiasz and little brother Harvey. The church, St. John's Cantius, where she received her Holy Communion and Catechism, is also where she and John were married. We know all the lives she touched, Joyce left a memory behind with them. We know her long time best friend, Vivian, will miss her deeply. The family would like to thank the special care of their mom in Selkirk, Manitoba, as well as Nicole, Tammy, Sharron and Bola at Org Nursing Home on Sinclair Avenue, who gave our mom the best support and care and love to her day in and day out. We know "Mama Jo" will be sorely missed at your home and in your hearts. Special thanks to Dr. Warriach at Seven Oaks Hospital and to Candace and the nursing staff on U2, 5th Floor for their support and dedication in making Joyce's last days more comfortable. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Highway, Winnipeg. Flowers may be sent directly to Voyage if so desired. Thank you. VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME 668-3151
