Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) HUMENIUK Peacefully on May 22, 2014, at the age of 74, Robert "Bob" Humeniuk passed away at Rest Haven Nursing Home. He was born November 12, 1939 in Winnipeg, MB. When Robert and Evelyn married, they moved to Winnipeg and operated a Pacific 66 service station. He then took a small engine course at Red River College. Soon after, in 1974 they purchased Steinbach Aircooled, which they operated till 1996. Robert was in his glory being around snowmobiles. Eventually when he took on the Yamaha franchise, he sold snowmobiles, motorbikes, and A.T.V.s. Robert was referred to as "Yamaha Bob." He was a real people person and always had time to chat. Robert was not one to stay idle. He loved the outdoors, always taking great pride in his many tomato plants. After 1996, he worked at Quarry Oaks as a mechanic. From there he went to Hanover School Division doing small engine repairs, and cutting grass at the schools. He often biked to and from work from Mitchell. Robert also had a love for children. So for seven years, every December he became known as "Santa Bob" at Clearspring Mall. He would save the "Dear Santa" letters and cards. It broke his heart when he could no longer continue this after his stroke in 2012. When Robert was admitted to Rest Haven Nursing Home, he took it upon himself to water the flowers and vegetables in the courtyard while in his wheelchair. He was known as the resident gardener. Due to his stroke and other complications, Robert slipped away peacefully with Evelyn by his side. He will always be remembered for his witty sense of humour and his way with words. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, of 52 years, two brothers and their families. Robert was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Lena Humeniuk, and one brother. Thank you to the caring staff at Rest Haven during Robert's stay. You will be missed and always in our hearts. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Steinbach, MB, with burial to follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Friedensfeld, MB. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Robert may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Fund, 465 Henry St., Steinbach, MB R5G 0H1.
