ELSIE FRIESEN Elsie Friesen (Peil) died peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home. She was born October 20, 1916 in Winnipeg. She is predeceased by her siblings and her husband Victor Friesen in 1976. She will be missed by her children; Ronald, Tamira (Cornelius) Martens, Celeste (Ron W.) Nikkel, Alisa (Donald) Laturnus, as well as her seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Elsie was a talented and creative homemaker. She devoted her life to her family and especially to her husband's career as an artist. She excelled at figure skating, gardening, creative hand work and all the homemaking skills. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She had a care giver's heart; always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. For years she cared for her parents and then her siblings and finally her husband. Elsie was a woman of great courage and fortitude; enduring the premature deaths of her mother, three siblings, and her husband. She lived as a widow for 38 years, half of them without sight. She was strengthened throughout the years by her unwavering faith in her salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ. The family will celebrate her life with a private gathering.
