JACOB BRAUN Peacefully on June 5, 2014, Jacob passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 89 years. Jacob will be dearly missed by his daughter Marilyn (Lyle Walde), his daughter Delores (Lori) (Bob Willms), his son Gordon (OV) and grandchildren Brian, Evan, Ruthann, Rachel, Katy and Sasha. Jacob is also survived by his siblings: Margaret Friesen, Harry and Betty Braun, Ed and Aileen Braun as well as in-laws George and Kathy Janzen, Margret Janzen, Johnnie Janzen, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jacob was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Susanna Braun, his wife Susie (Janzen), sisters Irma (Abe) Mathies and Martha Braun and brother Victor Braun. Jacob grew up on the farm at Meadows. He married Susie in 1960 and raised his three children on the farm there. He retired from farming in 1995 but continued to live on the farm. In 2010 he moved to Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence II in Winnipeg. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Grace Hospital for their kindness and care. Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba with viewing prior to the service. Interment will follow in the family cemetery near Dominion City, Manitoba. Donations may be made in Jacob's memory to Canadian Foodgrains Bank or Mennonite Central Committee.
