JOHN PHILIP POITRAS 1945 - 2014 With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of John on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Pine Falls General Hospital. He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Linda, his son, Jason (Jennifer Morton), his brother and friend, Robert (Jeanne), his sister Marlene Pelton (Mark) and nieces; Erin, Kenzie and Haley. John is predeceased by his children, Kevin John and Debra Michelle and parents, Philip and Helen. John was born on January 6, 1945 in Pine Falls, Manitoba. He was a successful, hard working business owner and was self-employed for most of his life. In his later years he worked as a foreman for the Rural Municipality of Alexander and retired in 2013. John often called by his nickname "Putter", was known for his wonderful sense of humor, teasing nature and his love of working outdoors. John could not sit still and was often seen puttering in his yard or garage and was often seen cutting his grass. He was always there to lend a helping hand and truly loved his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. We would like to thank Dr. Ali, the Pine Falls Nursing Staff and the paramedics for their great effort and support in our time of need. A Funeral will be held on Saturday July 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Powerview Catholic Church. All are welcome to attend. John had a huge heart for animals and in his memory a donation to The Winnipeg Humane Society would put a big smile on his face. My condolences to Johnny's family. I just heard and am deeply saddened. We go back to our teens, many early experiences and memories. I moved many years ago but we would connect periodically and do a catch up. Will miss him. I do have memories of a good man and a true friend. Yes "Rest in joy Johnny" my friend. - Posted by: Blaine Campbell (Old friend) on: Jul 20, 2014

It was with deep sadness that I heard of John's passing. Our families shared a duplex on Pine Street opposite the Post Office and John was my earliest friend. We shared many good times but sadly we lost contact over the years. However, he was never forgotten and the world is a sadder place without him. My condolences to his family. I am sure he will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Greg Inglis (Early childhood friend) on: Jul 03, 2014

Linda and family, you and John have truly touched our hearts and our lives. "Maria" feels expecially close to you. We have appreciated all John's help over the past few years, but even more, we appreciate his presence and personality. We are truly saddened by his passing. May he rest in joy, and may each of you be comforted by awesome memories of this one-of-a-kind man. - Posted by: Percy, Caroline & Braydon Stevenson (neighbors) on: Jul 03, 2014
