Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD GORDON WENSEL Gerald Wensel, aged 77 years, beloved husband of Joan, died peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Concordia Hospital. Gerald was born June 20, 1937 to parents Henry and Lorna Wensel. Gerald will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joan, of 55 years; his four daughters: Shelley and her family Clint (Vera-Lynne) and Craig (Amy) and great-grandson Austin; Lori and her family Steven and Jennifer; Janet (Nathan) and their family Dan, Jacob and Nicole; and Shannon (Tom) and their family Jordan, Megan and Amy; and sister Dorothy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gerald was predeceased by his parents and his sister Ruth. He was Dad to his girls; PaPa to his grandchildren and Ger to Joan. Gerald was proudest of his girls and grandchildren whom he simply adored!! He will be remembered for serious life stories and how he entertained all of us with his numerous jokes! He was an avid bowler, loved fishing and at family gatherings he enjoyed a good card game. In his early years, Gerald worked with Wolfe's Plastering and with A.E.C.L. Pinawa from which he retired in October, 1994. With Joan, he enjoyed country music. Gerald and Joan were always Lutheran Church members. Gerald's belief and faith in God so greatly comforted him during many health issues. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11 at Peace Lutheran Church, 350 Gilmore Avenue in Winnipeg with Pastor Brad Schollenberg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald's memory may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 350 Gilmore Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2G 2B7. To the Wensel Family..... Our heartfelt condolences to all you for the loss of your husband, dad and papa.... An Angel to watch over you all from up above. It was so nice to reconnect with Shannon at her church not that long ago and reminisce for a brief moment remembering being confirmed together in our teens. My dad wishes to extend his thoughts to you as well. We all send you thoughts and prayers during this time of grief and healing. May you find peace in knowing that Gerry is in the hands of The Lord.
