MARIE DOROTHY FREDBORG October 17, 1930 August 30, 2014 Our beloved Mom, Granny and Great-Granny passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30 at Oakview Place Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband Edward; eldest son Trevor; parents Charles (Len) and Marie Asher; sister Mickie; brothers Alfie, Bert and Chuck. Marie is survived by her loving family children Debra, Kevin, and Tammy; grandchildren Travis (Kerry), Brandi, and Kristen (Adam); great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Carter and Cora; as well as her sister Dora, sisters-in-law Fran, Marianne, and Norma; and many nieces and nephews. Marie was born in Winnipeg, spent some of her teen years in Vancouver and Shalalth, BC, and settled in Winnipeg Beach where she met Edward. After marrying in 1951, Marie and Ed lived in Winnipeg Beach until moving to Gimli in 1963, and to Winnipeg in 1971. Marie worked at Canada Post and Eaton's before starting a family, was a full-time Mom until the mid-1970s when she impressively re-entered the work force with Revenue Canada, and worked at Transport Canada Pay & Benefits until she retired in 1987. Marie's greatest pleasure was caring for her family and her home. Mom was very creative and artistic. She knitted sweaters, sewed Halloween costumes, crocheted blankets and baby clothes, created needlework art and quilts, grew beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, had a talent for landscaping, played the organ, wrote song lyrics, and was always singing. She enjoyed planning, cooking and baking for family gatherings, and curling in bonspiels and taking road trips with Dad. Mom appreciated her "quiet time" but also liked to dance up a storm, especially when her kids and grand-kids sang and played the music. Mom, thanks for the lovefor watching over us, for teaching us that "two wrongs don't make a right", and for encouraging us to be independent and think for ourselves by asking us your favourite question: "If everybody else jumped in the lake, are you going to jump in too?" Mom, we'll never really be apart. The family wishes to thank everyone at Oakview Place, especially the staff on 1 East, for looking after our Mom with kindness and compassion. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Green Acres Funeral Home, with Minister Virginia Coleman officiating and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Salvation Army would be appreciated. To My Family and Friends I go from you gently for it is my time To take the next step in this journey of mine. Do not grieve for me long; I've not left you alone, For I will be with you, in the love we have known. And that love is forever, And someday, when it's time, You will join me again, on this journey of mine.
