Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGATHE PETKAU (nee FROESE) 1926 - 2014 On Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, Agathe Petkau, aged 88 years, went to her eternal rest. She leaves to mourn her passing four children: Carey; Donald (Tara); Douglas; Janet (Duane); seven grandchildren: Aaron; Megan; Caitlin and fiancé Jordan; Shannon; Arista; Noah; Sarah; one sister, two brothers and families. She was predeceased by husband Julius in 2003, her parents, and two sisters. Agathe was born January 26, 1926 in the Ukraine, the second of six children. Later that year she moved with her family to Saskatchewan where the family farmed for many years. In 1950 she graduated as a registered nurse from the Grace Hospital. She practiced her profession in Winkler where she met her husband whom she married in 1952. They farmed together first in Morden and later in Elm Creek. Upon retirement they moved back to Morden and spent many years volunteering their services and travelling to new places. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 6 at 5:00 p.m. at Portage Avenue Mennonite Church, Winnipeg. Pastor Lois Litz officiating. A brief graveside memoriam and interment will take place on Sunday, September 7 at 2:30 p.m. at Southside Cemetery, Morden. Donations may be made to Parkinson Society of Manitoba, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

Every time I met Agathe she was warm and kind. Although she was soft spoken, she always had something interesting to say or a story to tell.
