THRUDA FLOYD With sadness we announce the passing of Thruda Floyd, aged 100 years, on September 9, 2014 at the Arborg Personal Care Home. Thruda was predeceased by husband Harry Floyd, daughter Olive Gudrun, sons-in-law Lloyd Finnbogason and Roger Benson, and grandson Glenn Finnbogason. She is lovingly remembered by son Lorne (Lorna), daughters Alice Finnbogason and Doris Benson; grandchildren Warren (Margaret) Finnbogason, Allan (Eva) Finnbogason, Robyn Penner, Ron Floyd, Stewart (Charla) Floyd, Leanne Benson, Boyd (Tracy) Benson, and Glenn's widow Donna; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Born on June 23, 1914 to Jacob and Unnur Sigvaldason, Thruda grew up in Vidir, MB with siblings Kris, Addie, Gudrun, Jacob and Eli. Thruda married Harry Floyd on November 28, 1936. They farmed in the Vidir district throughout their 59 year marriage. In 1999, Thruda moved to Sunrise Lodge in Arborg and later to the Arborg Assisted Living. For the past seven months she resided at the Arborg Personal Care Home. Thruda was very community minded, serving on several committees, clubs and boards. She was an exceptional seamstress and gardener. She will be remembered for her positive attitude, enthusiasm and her ever-present bright smile. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Arborg Assisted Living and the Arborg Personal Care Home for their loving care and support. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Ardal-Geysir Lutheran Church in Arborg, MB at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arborg and District Ladies Health Auxiliary, Box 301, Arborg, MB, R0C 0A0.
