ROSE SENKOW (nee SENKIW) Peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 Rose passed away, with her husband Frank by her side, at the Arborg and District Personal Care Home at the age of 85. Rose was born in Sarto, MB, on March 23, 1929. Rose will be lovingly remembered by her husband of sixty four years, Frank, and their four children Reg (Sandra), Rod (Sherry Sigurdson), Robin (Georgia Sigvaldason) and Holly Campbell (Don); grandchildren Andrea Lamond, Quinn Senkow (Sebastien North), Dayn Senkow (Deanna Brown), Madison and Dempsey Senkow, Tianna and Mason Campbell; and great-grandchild Theo Senkow. Also left to cherish her memory is her brother Ronald Senkiw (Sonja), as well as one brother-in-law, several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Rose was a long time resident of Arborg, MB and over the years she volunteered her time in several capacities to the Arborg Community Centre in support of her children's sporting activities. Rose was a genuine and caring lady with a friendly disposition, greeting her many acquaintances with a big "Hello" and a beautiful smile. Rose was a wonderful wife, mother, granny, and great-granny. She doted on her family, spoiling them with wonderful home-cooked meals, baking and preserves. Rose was very creative and as a hobby she crocheted many delicate doilies, tablecloths and afghans for her home and family. At one time she also enjoyed embroidering and knitting. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cribbage, doing crossword, picture and jumbo puzzles, and a challenging game of scrabble was her favourite pass-time. She also enjoyed watching professional curling and figure skating. Rose enjoyed the outdoors and activities such as gardening and family camping trips, and she especially looked forward to their annual fishing trips to Leaf Rapids, MB. As empty nesters, Frank and Rose travelled to the North West Territories visiting the North Pole, Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk. They travelled to Alaska on several occasions where they became so well-known in the RV Park that they were named Campground Hosts, registering and welcoming guests from around the country. Special thanks to Dr. Donnelly and Dr. Siddiqui for the medical care provided to Rose and for their professional consultation to family members during her stay in the Arborg and District Hospital and the Arborg Personal Care Home. The family also wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses, nurse's aides and to the entire staff of the Fisher Branch and Arborg Personal Care Homes for the heartwarming, tender loving care provided to Rose during her stay. Gone but never forgotten, rest in peace. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Dear Uncle Frank and Family, Sister Helen called to let Vic and I know about our dear Auntie Rosie's passing. She was the nicest Auntie; so much like my mother, Anne Sawicki, so giving and kind! I remember when she visited in St. George, she would love to go down by the creek to pick watercress and nuts. The nut tree, (mostly grown around Sarto), produced nuts that tasted like licorice, sticky and black. Uncle Frank, I loved making muffins for Auntie Rose and you. You used to tease me about that. I have such fond memories of Auntie Rose and you. Auntie Rose will always be remembered with love. Our hearts go out to you at this very hard time and we send sincere condolences, embraced with love to you and your family. Love your niece Alice Sawicki Fennell, Vic Fennell and family - Posted by: Alice Sawicki Fennell (Neice) on: Oct 17, 2014

  • Dear uncle Frank and family-----just to let you know that I'm feeling sad at aunt Rose's passing. But, I'm so glad that I have tried to keep up with the Senkiw family. I have lived so far away from 'my roots', but I have never forgotten my childhood in Sarto, or my good memories of my aunt Rosie. Kids just don't forget.
