Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHILDEGARD (HILDA) SAWATZKY (nee PAULS) Peacefully, on September 20, 2014, at Riverview Health Centre, Hilda Sawatzky passed away at the age of 92 years. Hilda is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John; daughter Carol (Len) Penner, sons Reg (Linda), Bruce (Irene) all of Winnipeg, and Len (Sharon) of Burlington ON; as well as 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three siblings. She was predeceased by her brother Ernest Pauls. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview 3W for their care and compassion for our mother. Viewing will take place Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee.

Hilda was a special cousin to me growing up. Since she and my sister Sarah were close in age I looked up to her in awe. At my brother Jake's funeral this summer, Clair and I connected with Hilda and John and felt really cared for. Hilda was so excited about life. It was good to hear from some of my sisters how Hilda was so ready to go Home. We pray God will give the family peace in this time of saying a final farewell, until you meet her again in your Father's timing. I am trying to figure out how I can make it to the funeral Thursday.
