WILLIAM C. PENIUK (BILL) It is with sadness that we announce, after a brief illness, the peaceful passing of Bill at St. Boniface Hospital with his family by his side on Monday, September 29, 2014. He was 77 years old. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Brad (Sandra) Peniuk and Kevin (Jackie) Peniuk; grandchildren William Z. Peniuk and Bethanie Peniuk; brothers and sisters-in-law Sis, Lil, Elaine (Rick), Brian (Jackie) and Sherry (Charlie); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his spouse Lillian Peniuk (nee Harrison); parents William and Elsie Peniuk; sister Emily and brother-in-law Bill; Cora and Leon; as well as brother-in-law Ken Harrison. Billy grew up in Ile des Chenes on the farm and moved to Winnipeg for work as a young man. He worked many jobs before finding his passion in long haul trucking and construction. His career began at R. C. Owens. He then spent time at Park Transport, which eventually led to Mulder/Maple Leaf Construction where he was a loyal employee for almost 40 years until early May 2014. Bill married his sweetheart Lillian and they enjoyed almost five decades of devotion to each other and their family until her death in 2007. Dad will be remembered for family camping trips to Kenora, fishing on the riverbank, escapades with his family in St. Genevieve, his huge heart, and his love for his grandchildren. Please join the family for the service on Saturday, October 4, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. Interment of both William and Lillian will occur after the service with a reception to follow. The family would like to thank the many home care workers, Palliative Care nurses, and the entire team at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit for all of the amazing care, guidance and support they provided. Special thanks from Kevin to his wife Jackie and their children Billy and Betsy, Dad's neighbours / friends Colette and John, Auntie Sherry and Auntie Elaine and Rick for all their help and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Liver Foundation of Canada. • Miss Me but Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared miss me but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone It’s all a part of the Master’s plan a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds, Miss me, but let me go. ~ Author Unknown Love Melissa Adams - Posted by: Melissa (Niece) on: Oct 06, 2014

  • Dear Uncle Bill. We heard the sad news and the tears started to flow as we remember you and how you touched us all. From laughing around a campfire or simply telling a story, you always brought joy to those around you. As a youngster, I spent many evenings at your home enjoying time with my cousin Kevin – what great memories I have in your care. I think of when Kevin and I would be up late laughing in the next room and we would hear your footsteps coming down the hall to tell us to be quiet. You always had a way about you that made me smile and realize what a big softy you were… no matter how scared I was…:) I enjoyed our talks and the laughs we shared over the past few years when I would pester you about retiring and taking up a hobby like “WORK”. The last talk we had, I was mentioning that I had recently worked with some of the Mulder guys - what I didn’t have a chance to tell you was how highly they thought of you and how proud I was to say that you were my uncle. My Dad (Ken Harrison) always said “you would be hard pressed to find a nicer man than Bill”. I think that says it all! It was time for you to return to your maker and bring your caring spirit back to those waiting for you in the heavens. We will cherish the memories you have brought into our lives as we grieve this temporary loss but we also celebrate your return to your life love Lil. Thank-you for the great memories Uncle Bill – See you when the time is right… Xo Craig & Susie Harrison - Posted by: Craig Harrison (Nephew) on: Oct 02, 2014

  • Sorry to hear about the loss of Bill. I remember working with him at the Rail Shop on Dawson & Plinquet loading up equipment onto the railcars to haul out of town to work on the City Aqueduct. He was a lot of laughs, had a lot of stories and spoke often of his loving wife Lillian. He was one of the funniest guys I had the privilege of working with in the construction business. Mulders/Maple Leaf Construction had a great man working for them and it was a real pleasure working with him. Gone and will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Sharon Jonas (work colleague) on: Oct 02, 2014

  • Love these 2. Lillian and Bill were so much a part of our younger life. I have so many wonderful memories..First there were memories from Guay Avenue, then Memories from Langevin, then Memories from the house on Traverse with all the nephews and nieces playing together, and then Arnold Street. There are so many, I can't list them all here but they are in my heart. They both had big hearts and helped out so many times. There homes were always open to family and friends. How many parties did we have there?? One of my fondest (there are lots but this one was special). Lillian's brother Ken (my husband) was diagnosed with cancer of the voice box. As we all know that can go either way. Ken always wanted to go to Vegas...So there we sat with Lil and Bill on a Tuesday...and Thursday we were on a plane to Vegas together. Ken also had a broken ankle...and there was Bill pushing Ken all over Vegas in the wheel chair. We had so much fun....RIP Bill, I know you are going to a better place. You are finally joining the love of your life Lillian and all the other angels that we have up there. You will always be in our hearts. The Big Man with the Big Heart. With Love I send you off to the Angels waiting to see you.xoxoxoxo - Posted by: Lillian Harrison (Sister-In-Law) on: Oct 02, 2014
