JEAN MARTHA FEDAK (REGULA)
Date of Passing: Oct 02, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN MARTHA FEDAK (nee REGULA) Peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the place she loved best, Grand Beach, MB, Jean Martha Fedak after 85 years was called home. Left to cherish Mom's memory are her children Louise (Harold), Diane, Wendy, Cheryl (Ted), Andrew/AJay, Christopher (Katherine); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and her cat and dog. She is also survived by her sister Josie; sisters-in-law Nina, Irene and Vera; as well as the huge extended family in Canada and the United States. Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Andrew. Mom was born and raised in Cloverleaf, MB. After moving to Winnipeg she met the love of her life and they were married in 1952. River Road in St. Vital was home to us all for 50 years to the date (remember the wiener roasts by the river and the pool parties?) Everyone was welcome at our home, including the many foster children who quickly became part of the family. For many years Mom worked at St. Amant and various nursing homes in Winnipeg, finally retiring from Vista Park Lodge, where she continued to volunteer until this past spring. She had varied interests throughout her life including U.C.W., Boy Scouts (she was the first female in Canada to be certified as a Scout winter camping leader), knitting, Church Lunch Bunch, Cloverleaf Gang to name but a few. We all have many of the items she knit or crocheted for us. From May to October you could find Mom at Grand Beach visiting with her friends, making perogies, knitting in the sunshine in the backyard, making her Canada Day cake with the strawberries, attending events at St. Jude's Anglican Church, playing cards, hosting Thanksgiving dinner for the extended family or just enjoying a cup of tea. One of our fondest memories is of Mom and Dad walking hand-in-hand down the road. A service of thanksgiving for Mom's life will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Road at the junction of St. Anne's with Rev. Philip Read presider. We are casual people please dress casually. Please join us for coffee, tea and dainties following the service. Interment will be at a later date. Thank you to the Selkirk and the Portage Detachments of the R.C.M.P. for their compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to D'Arcy's A.R.C., 730 Century Street, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0M1. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 1020 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB 204.586.8668, in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com

I was very saddened to just hear about Jeans passing. She was a wonderful person. I had a picture waiting for her for her next pattern to crotchet which I knew she loved to do for her grand and great grand children. My sincere heartfelt condolences to the whole family, Josie a big hug from me. FIL - Posted by: Fil Couto (Hairstylist) on: Nov 21, 2014

Condolences to the entire Fedak family,on the loss of your Mother(My second Mother). You can all be proud of who she was, and what she accomplished. She was probably the most selfless person I ever had the pleasure of spending time with.If you were hungry, she would feed you, upset, she would comfort you, first aid,she would treat you,it was just her way. The memories of 256,Merridale,and countless outdoor excursions will always be with me,and will always make me smile.Quite often Christopher and I would spend weekends together, and get up on Sunday to see the hoard of Fedak's coming to see Jean and Andy for brunch,no special occaision, just a close family they both created.Knowing Jean&Andy,I can say they made me a better person by demonstrating what true love and hard work really are.You will be missed and never forgotten, and sure to be the only woman in the province to sleep in a lean-two at -50*. Give Andy a hug,and pet Fonz & Gidget for me. - Posted by: Perry&Holly French (Life long family friends) on: Oct 12, 2014

A true servant of God. She opened her doors to broken children, healed us with her love, and gave us strength to carry-on. Much of who I am is a result of the caring and compassion she showed me. I accomplished many things in my life because of her. She taught me discipline and the value of hard work. She will be part of me until the end of my days. Was it not God who brought her into my life? I will honor her and pray for her. My thanks are endless. - Posted by: Randy Mason () on: Oct 08, 2014
