ELFRIEDE MARIA HUR (nee WECERA) Peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Mom/Oma will be sadly missed by her children: Paul (Cathy), Sandi (Emil), Romana, and Christine; her daughter-in-law, Mary; her grandchildren: Mirek, Janet (Rich), Joanne (Gerry), Alexis (fiancée Alex), Matthew, Amanda, and Francesca, and her great-grandchildren: Mila, Madan, Maxwell, Petrina, Tate and Zoe. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Alex, her first husband, Miroslaw Frolek and their son, Peter. Mom was born just outside Vienna, Austria in the little town of Stockern. After the war, Mom worked as a nanny for a diplomat at the British Embassy in Vienna and moved to England with the family. She met and married Dad in England and in 1952 they came to Canada and made their home in Winnipeg. Over the years Mom had various jobs, but her fondest memories were the years she spent working at St. Boniface Hospital. We are sure that Mom is already playing cards with her dearest friend Hermina and the regulars from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, or sharing a cup of coffee with her dear friend and neighbour, Alice. Panakhyda will be sung 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30 and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, both at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie St. with Very Rev. Mark Gnutel officiating. A private interment will follow at a later date. Family would like to thank the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for the wonderful and loving care that Mom received during her stay there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. To love a Mom and then to part is the greatest trial to the human heart. God bless you Mom. We will miss you so much.
