JOSEPHINE VASSART
Born: Sep 11, 1918
Date of Passing: Nov 02, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPHINE VASSART September 11, 1918 - November 2, 2014 Peacefully, on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at her residence at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre, Josephine won her battle. She leaves her seven children, Lucy, Jim, Doreen, Pat, Garry, Denis, Bev, and their spouses, 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren to remember her and celebrate her legacy. Josephine was born in Mariapolis and spent the first part of her life in that area. She married August Vassart in 1938 and they started their family in the Dry River District where they farmed until 1961. They moved and lived on the farm in the Cartwright area until 1977 when they relocated into the town of Cartwright where they stayed until 2000, before settling in Winnipeg. Josephine was a master gardener and always had a garden to be envied wherever she lived. Even after moving to Winnipeg she continued to garden a small space and it always brought a big smile to her face to see a good garden. She was a lifelong member of the W.I. and spent her life as a devout member of the Catholic Church. Her faith, like her family, was most important in her life. Josephine's proudest achievement was her family. Her home was always filled with pictures and mementos of her children and their children. So to honour Josephine, we will celebrate a life well lived and remember her now and always. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, November 5 at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice. Be she small of stature, she is but fierce.

My condolences to the family. I enjoyed visiting with Josie at the Villa when my grandfather, Maurice Rigaux lived there. She had a special way with children, and my son really liked her. She was the only one who could get him to fall asleep in her arms! - Posted by: Tracey Rigaux (cousin) on: Nov 05, 2014
