TILLY KWASNY (nee KRUK) March 24, 1923 - November 1, 2014 Peacefully, on Saturday, November 1, 2014, Tilly Kwasny passed away at Holy Family Home, where she had been a resident since March 2013. Tilly is survived by her husband of 62 years, Peter. She is also survived by her daughter, Margaret Synyshyn and son-in-law, John Synyshyn; her son, Gregg Kwasny and daughter-in-law, Geraldine Kwasny; four grandchildren, Andrew Synyshyn and wife Ashley of Brandon, Manitoba, Steven Synyshyn and wife Britt of Toronto, Ontario, Melissa Grantham and husband Jeff Grantham, and Kevin Kwasny, and three great-grandchildren, Myla, Roman and Ruby Synyshyn of Brandon, Manitoba. Tilly is also survived by her brother, Harry Kruk and wife Elsie; sister-in-law, Sally Kruk; sister-in-law, Jeanette Kwasny; brother-in-law, Bill Kwasny and wife Krystyna; as well as five nephews and nieces and their families. Tilly was predeceased by her parents Sawa and Anna Kruk, her four brothers, John, Bill, Sam and Peter, and sisters-in-law, Stephanie Kruk and Emily Kruk. Tilly was born in Winnipeg on March 24, 1923. She grew up with five brothers in the North End, Winnipeg. She attended St. Nicholas School for all of her education where she made friends that endured until her passing. Tilly worked at a number of jobs in her working life, but by far the job that held the most memories for her was working at Eaton's. She was proud to be an Eaton's alumnus and spoke very warmly of her time there and the friendships that she made. Tilly was very involved with her parish, St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. It was here that she volunteered her time and gave of herself. She was proud to be a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League and would have been pleased to know that she received her 60 year pin this past Sunday. Tilly was active in the church choir, a member of the pyroghy crew and the Apostleship of Prayer. She enjoyed traveling, the occasional casino excursion and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren when they were younger. Tilly had a long and blessed life. She saw her children grow up and prosper, she attended the weddings of three of her grandchildren and met one of her great-grandchildren. We will all miss her, but are comforted by good memories and many happy times. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 7 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. A private interment will take place. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff on St. Francis Ward at Holy Family Home for the compassionate care provided to Tilly. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Nicholas Church, Elevator Fund or to the Lubov Foundation - Holy Family Home designation. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193
