Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA ANNE HOGAN It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Anne Hogan on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the age of 77. Barbara is survived by her aunts, many cousins, and close friends. She was predeceased by her mother. Barbara loved her work but also loved the time she spent in Hawaii each year. She enjoyed her times spent at Sugar Bay with all of her cousins. Her amazing career and rise throughout the investment business started at Greenshields Incorporated in 1959, continued with the Hawaiian Trust Company in Honolulu, Richardson Greenshields, Prudential Bache Securities, and Burns Fry, all in Winnipeg. She ended her career as Vice President of BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2004, 45 years later. She also worked on the Investment Committee for the Winnipeg School Division (non-teaching) and for the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary associated with St. Mary's Academy. The family would like to thank her friends, Ken and Diane, for their care and help with Barbara over the past few months as her health failed. We would also like to thank Dr. Sharkey for his many home visits to Barbara and also to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital on 6E, especially Jocelyn, for all the great care they all gave to Barbara. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 8 at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place immediately following the service. Honorary pallbearers are Manuel Amorin, Myles Hunt, Sterling Hunt, Ken Proulx, Colin Ryan and Raymond Ward. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Barbara's name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6 or to a charity of your choice. The light of my world has been dimmed but the heavens shine brighter now. Barbara - my cousin, my friend for 77 years, my cohort, my confidant, my ally, my joy! When I was a very young girl, Barbara was engaged to my uncle (now deceased) Fred Jackson. As a young girl, I remember her as so beautiful, with a soft voice and so very, very kind. To me she was my Auntie Barbara, and my memory of her was of a gentle kind woman whose presence in my life I have always cherished. - Posted by: Lee Hopps (Broadbent) (friend) on: Nov 07, 2014

My Uncle Fred Jackson dated Barbara in the 60's. She was 'Auntie' Barbara to us. She was regal and self-assured and very much the career woman. When birthdays and Christmas rolled around, it was always interesting to see what Uncle Fred's gift was, because it was often something elegant. One year, he gave me elegant stockings with a diamond pattern that I'm sure she picked out. I remember an dinner outing with Uncle Fred and Auntie Barbara to Rae and Jerry's restaurant. My sister and I felt very grown up at about 9 and 11, but we ate too many rolls and breadsticks before our meals came and made rather poor dinner guests. We were quite upset when Uncle Fred and Barbara broke up. She became the standard by which we measured Uncle Fred's later girlfriends. About fifteen years ago I bumped into Barbara on Portage Avenue and introduced myself. It was lovely to have that little catch-up. - Posted by: Cindy (Broadbent) Friesen ((friend)) on: Nov 07, 2014

Dear sweet Barbara. Thanks for being such a great neighbour to Kira and I. You were always there when we needed you. My pets were your pets, of course they were way more spoiled when they came to your place. We had many laughs and I will forever hear you calling my name from the other side of fence. We will miss you. Love Karen and Kira - Posted by: Karen Roberts (Friend) on: Nov 07, 2014

Growing up Barbara was with the Faill family so much. She and Patsy were inseparable and I was the little kid tagging along and I remember wanting to be just like them! I always looked up to Barb and was so proud of all of her accomplishments. Moving to the Toronto area in 1969, Barb came to visit us twice and I always made a visit to See Auntie Nelly and Barb whenever I came home. She was a great source of hope to me when I was ill in 2010 and I spent a wonderful week with her in Hawaii in 2011. We had a couple of visits in May of this year and went to Maximes for lunch. You went far too soon Barb and will be missed very much. Love Cousin Iris. - Posted by: Iris Rogers (Faill) (Cousin) on: Nov 07, 2014

Barbara - so many great memories of our times as school buddies and those great teen canteen dances at Glenwood Community Club. Always think of you when I hear those Glen Miller numbers. Saddened by this loss but I have all those wonderful happy memories forever. And of course our "Bunch Lunch" get togethers were great.
