JOHN JAMES BARNICKI October 12, 1924 - November 5, 2014 Our Dad, John Barnicki passed away at Holy Family Home at the age of 90 years. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia; parents Mike and Mary; brothers Nick and Joe and sister Anne. John is survived by children Janet (Jack), Ken (Dawn), Don (Adeline); grandchildren Ashleigh, Meagan, Thomas, Larissa, Shaun; great-grandchildren Ryan, Addyson, Madison and Caiden. Dad served his country in the Second World War in the Italian Campaign as a member of the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry. He returned to Canada, met Mom and married and raised three children together. John worked at MTS for over 30 years and then enjoyed a lengthy and productive retirement. He and Mom got to see much of North America in their frequent travels. Dad loved his family and was always willing to help his children with any projects and enjoyed spending time at their cottages in the summer. In his last days, Dad resided at Holy Family Home. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for him with such compassion. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue with a private family interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a compassionate care charity of your choice. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 204-586-8044
