CHONTLE (SHONNEY) MARGARET PATERSON (nee HIRT) August 27, 1940 - November 9, 2014 Peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, Shonney passed away with her loving family at her side. Left to mourn are daughters Susan (Bruce) Bedard and Joyce Jubinville; grandchildren Shane and Nicole Bedard, Caitlin Paterson; daughter-in-law Barb Paterson; sisters Shirley and Ronnie; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and friends. Mom was predeceased by her husband Douglas, son Bryan, parents Peter and Barbara and siblings George, Anita, Jack, Bob, Richard and Alan. Mom retired from Blue Ribbon after 35 years of service, then went on to work briefly at the Royal Canadian Legion. Her greatest struggle was the loss of her son Bryan in 2009. After officially retiring, mom enjoyed weekly bingo, bowling with the CN Pensioners Bowling League, coffee dates and socializing as an Avon rep. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She was a proud grandma of Shane, Nicole and Caitlin. Our family would like to thank the palliative nursing staff for their excellent care, kindness and compassion true gems. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road. Interment will follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in mom's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
