RLEE ELEANOR GILSON (nee SCOTT) September 8, 1933 - December 5, 2014 It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Friday, December 5, 2014, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Rlee was predeceased by her husband Ralph (2000) and brother, Gerald (1993). She is survived by her brother, Jim (Terry), her four children Tracy (Marcia), Robin (Joe), Scott (Debra), and Christine (Walter) and her grandchildren Drew, Tyler, Nathan, Kristy, Nikki, Brooke, Andrew, Britney, Craig and her two great-grandchildren Ryker and Jordan. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Norma (Al), Dorothy and Violet, and nieces and nephews with whom many lifetime memories were made. Rlee will be dearly missed by her many friends who shared extraordinary experiences with her that could include having coffee, horseback riding to travelling. Mom cherished her time with her friends in the Narcisse Women's Institute and the Red Hat Ladies. Born September 8, 1933, she attended Belmont School and graduated from West Kildonan Collegiate with distinctions, including the Governor General's Award. In 1954, Rlee married the love of her life, Ralph and moved to Narcisse. They shared a passion for farming that also included her love for gardening and horses. Jake, the miniature horse still holds a special place in her heart and her barn. Even after retirement?'' she faithfully enjoyed doing her chores. Travelling adventures included the cruise to Alaska, muling the Grand Canyon, trip to Ireland, hanging from the CN Tower, and Las Vegas the special treat for her 80th birthday. In 2012, Mom was honoured by the recognition of her exceptional volunteerism and community involvement by receiving the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Dr. Kerr Graham, the nursing staff at Stonewall Regional Hospital, Dr. Leylek , Dr. Kristjanson and staff at CancerCare Manitoba. The celebration of Mom's remarkable life will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Teulon Rockwood Community Centre at 1:00 p.m. followed by lunch and interment in the Willowview Cemetery. Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Our deepest condolences on your sad loss. Mary, Ruth & I are distant cousins from across the pond. We met many of our Canadian relatives at a family reunion at the Good's farm in Gunton, Manitoba, way back in 1983. We have very fond memories of you all, and still have the welcome card signed by Rlee, Donna, Chris & Drew, and many others. It was a fantastic trip for us and we were so grateful that many of you travelled hundreds of miles just to greet us with true Canadian hospitality. All our thoughts are with you, Mary, Ruth & Steve West - Posted by: Steve & Mary West (distant cousins from the old country across the pond) on: Jan 08, 2015

  • I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Rlee. Rlee was one of my favorite customers, and seeing her pull into to the store always brightened my day. • I first knew Rlee many years ago when she would stop in at our store at Balmoral, and from the first meeting found her to be one of the nicest, kindest of people I have had the good fortune to meet. Since moving to Teulon, have had the opportunity to share times with her and only wish I had taken the opportunity to share even more time with her. Just an exceptional lady and will sorely miss being able to chat with her. My sincere condolences to you, her family. - Posted by: Shirley Jahns Mulvey (friend of Rlee) on: Dec 09, 2014

  • I'm so sorry to hear of Rlee's unexpecting passing. My heartfelt sympathy to the Gilson family at this most difficult time. Cherish all the happy times and memories you all had with her. I will always remember Rlee - kind hearted warm person she was, and the time we gals all took swimming lessons at Gimli, if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have learned to swim. That I'll cherish forever. - Posted by: Mary Ptashynski (friend) on: Dec 08, 2014

  • RLee's passing will be a great loss not only to family but everyone that has met her. She was a wonderful woman and an inspiration for us all. Our thoughts and love. Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep for I am a thousands winds that blow, I am the diamond glints in the snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. Mary Elizabeth Frye - Posted by: Donald and Nancy (nefew) on: Dec 08, 2014

  • Words cannot express the feeling of loss we all feel at this time. Rhlee was a wonderful and kind person that you always enjoyed talking to no matter where you ran into her. She would always take the time to say hello and ask how everyone was doing and then onto farm business, do you have enough hay, gosh we had lots of rain last night and so on. She was so warm hearted and I cannot imagine what you are all going through at this time and so unexpected. Our family wishes you all sympathy and hold her memories dear to your hearts. - Posted by: Wayne and Michelle Hazelton (neighbor and friend) on: Dec 08, 2014
