ALEXANDER CAMPBELL STEWART Peacefully, on December 13, 2014, Alexander Campbell Stewart passed away at the age of 87. Born in Rosser, on July 13, 1927, Alex spent his early years in Lilyfield. In 1958, he married his loving and devoted wife Joyce. Together they adoringly raised four children, Wendy (Kimo), Rick (Marg), Jim (Lee), and Lori (Terry). The majority of Alex's life was spent in Balmoral, MB, where he farmed and volunteered in the community. He valued family and friends above all. His family was always most important and spoiling nine grandchildren brought him great pride and joy. Cindy (Murray), Gord (Amy), Geoff (Leslie), Kristle, Don, Eric, Dan, Jodie and Shawn, along with four great-grandchildren, Carson, Duncan, Chase and Claire all were special and meant the world to him. Alex had a lighthearted personality and an amazing work ethic. He had a great admiration for farming and especially enjoyed the harvest. Alex retired from Rockwood Co-op following 30 years of service as a milk truck driver establishing many lifelong friendships. He was the kind of man people enjoyed being around, full of hospitality and laughter. Retirement meant more time for family, car rides, auction sales and travel with Joyce by his side. In 2008, they settled comfortably into a new home in Stonewall, winning awards for their best-kept yard. Alex enjoyed curling and baseball on TV, but his greatest amusement came from watching his children's sports activities or performances. He took pleasure in music, dancing, playing cards and antique cars and tractors. Alex was a member of the Rocklands Antique Club and some of his happiest moments were displaying his collection or participating in a parade. With a generous heart and a giving spirit, Alex was constantly offering a helping hand to anyone in need. Missed will be his quick wit, smiles and hugs. He had great pride in his Scottish family name, all his children and the way he lived his life with strong loyal values and admiration for his wife Joyce. Others who mourn Alex's passing are his brothers Ken (Marilyn), Lloyd (Darlene), in-laws Kitty Stewart, Mary Stewart, Bob Appleyard, Irene Pearson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Ethel Stewart, brothers Murray, Glen and Keith and sisters Doreen Appleyard and Beryl Good. In-laws Bob Pearson, Bernice and Dyke Fraser, Sam Good and Ruby Stewart. We will love and miss you forever. Thank you to the staff at Stonewall and District Hospital for all your support and care. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Cemetery, Box 117 Balmoral, MB. R0C 0H0 or a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Service Stonewall MB. (204) 467 2525 mackhome@mts.net
