In 1938 I arrived with my family from Poland. The Slobodians were our closest neighbors. I spoke only German, Helen spoke only Ukranian but we got along just fine. Helen taught us both how to count and the ABC's before we started school together in 1939 at the one room schoolhouse in Greenwald. I often wondered where she lived after we grew up. She will always be in my thoughts. - Posted by: Leah Burgess (nee Stubel) (Childhood Friend from 1938 when we both lived with our families on the farm.) on: Jan 17, 2015

My heartfelt condolences to Auntie Helen's girls and families. I remember visiting her at the house on Kildare, when Grandma Mary lived across the street. This would have been in the 80's, I think Tracy was still living at home! She was always warm and inviting. I'm sorry I couldn't attend the funeral, but you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Carolyn Markmann (great-niece (daughter of niece Janice Thompson)) on: Jan 15, 2015

To Helen's daughters. Your mom was often (and continues to be) in my thoughts. There were so many of her gestures and traits that reminded me of my mom, her sister Mary. I made many proclamations to visit her and did not do that nearly often enough. It is the sudden passing of your dear mother that reminds us that life is short and we have to take advantage of our time together. Please know that I wish I could attend her service but will be out of town. I will be thinking of you. May God bless you and keep you. - Posted by: Janice Thompson (Niece to Helen and cousin to her girls) on: Jan 11, 2015

Tracy, We are so sad to hear of your mother's passing. She was a beautiful person, always generous and kind. I will remember with a fond heart the times we shared together as kids enjoying life together in your home. Your mom always welcomed me and treated me well. She was an amazing cook and often showed her love and dedication this way. I know how special your relationship with her was and we pray for you and your family at this difficult time. - Posted by: Michael and Bonnie Slobodian (nephew to Helen, first cousin and friend to Tracy) on: Jan 10, 2015
