VERONICA ROSE AUGUSTINE (nee VATRT) February 28, 1928 - January 4, 2015 On Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, Vera Augustine, aged 86, passed away. Vera is survived by her three children and their families: Linda, her son Corey; Barry (Carol-Lee), children: Neil, Ashley and Randi; and Rick (Darlene), children: Colin, Shannon and Jocelyn. Vera is also survived by her brother Joey (Cleade), sisters in-law Shirley, Anne, Pat and Josephine and many nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her husband Emil (2000); parents Ludwig and Veronica Vatrt; brothers Victor and Louie; and sisters Mary and Frances. Vera was born on February 28, 1928 in Straze, Czechoslovakia, then immigrated to Canada with family in 1937 and settled on the farm in Dufresne, Manitoba. This is where Vera may have developed her hardworking and determined character. Vera and Emil were married in 1951 and eventually settled in Lac du Bonnet. Mom worked as a painter, then also for Brincheski Bros. at AECL as a custodian. Her love of gardening, needlepoint, baking, crocheting, and perogy-making were just some of mom's enjoyments in her earlier years. Mom also believed in community involvement and was involved in various organizations. Mom also could be seen and heard when attending the boys' hockey games at the arena. We should all remember mom prior to her long illness. She could make people laugh and have fun, and besides everyone knew exactly where she stood. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the entire staff (past and present) at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for all the care and compassion shown to mom for the last 20 years. At mom's request, cremation occurred with interment to be held at a later date at Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Vera can be made to the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, Box 1030, Lac du Bonnet, MB R0E 1A0.
