Mom was born in the village of Medika, Manitoba. She was raised on the farm and moved to Winnipeg as a young adult. Before she left the farm, she met the love of her life Nick, who had come to the farm to visit her brothers. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff of the Concordia Place Nursing Home and in particular the staff on the third floor who continually made Mom's stay a happy one. We must also note how much pleasure Mom got from her visits from Father "Don" Lukie and Pastor Gerry Doerkson. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Knew this wonderful lady in the days that the Bakery in Brooklands resided in the area. My family had always bought the bakery goods and cakes. My father passed on Sept. 11/1998 and my mother still lives in Brooklands. I myself knew some of the family - Paul was one, very friendly people with kind hearts. God Bless you all in your loss. - Posted by: Elizabeth Reutlinger (Long time resident from Brooklands that used to shop at the Bakery.) on: Jan 28, 2015

  • Farewell my lovely neighbour, R.I.P. Nick will no longer be lonely if he was. - Posted by: Vi Cherny (Neighbour in younger days) on: Jan 26, 2015

  • She was my Baba. She was the purest definition of love. She will be missed deeply. Until we hug again Baba - I love you more than any words could possibly express. - Posted by: Donna and Jiri Rozporka (Granddaughter) on: Jan 25, 2015

  • From being a young girl, we lived 4 houses away from the Chornenki Family in Brooklands, and going to the bakery was such a treat, especially for cinnamon buns, little square decorated cakes, all kinds of breads, you name it. Poor Mr. Chornenki had to be at the shop -- luckily just down the street on Keewatin - by about 0400-0430 a.m. so he could get the bread dough going for all the hungry regulars who would pop by for their favorites. NEVER, EVER, DID I MAKE IT HOME WITH 6 OF 6 CINNAMON BUNS IN THE BAG. ALWAYS SAID THEY MUST HAVE SHORTED ME BUT I ALSO HAD CINNAMON ALL OVER MY FACE, SO WAS ""BUSTED"" BUT THAT WAS OKAY AS THEIR GOODIES WERE THE BEST AROUND. NOW NICK AND MARY ARE TOGETHER AND MAY GOD BLESS THEM BOTH AND MAY THEY BOTH R.I.P. SINCERE THOUGHTS TO MARIE AND PAUL AS I KNEW THOSE 2 THE BEST. TAKE CARE, WITH WARM WISHES FROM THE ENTIRE """MANDRYK FAMILY, INCLUDING GRANDPA AND GRANDMA UP THE STREET WHO ALSO LOVED YOUR WONDERFUL TREATS""" TAKE CARE. - Posted by: DIANNE MANDRYK SPRY (FORMER NEIGHBOR AND REGULAR CUSTOMER AT THE BAKERY) on: Jan 24, 2015
