TED (TYS) HEUVELMAN On Friday, January 23, 2015 our family lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother at the age of 76. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Ted will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his soul mate of 47 years Penny (nee Buchannon); daughters Deb (Rob) Petkau, Tammie Heuvelman, Bridget (Greg) Martin; grandchildren Josh, Chris, Ally and Kelly; sisters Marie, Jannie, Nel (Keith); brothers-in-law Bill, Ron (Joy); and in-laws Lillian, Carol (Doug), and many nieces and nephews. Ted was predeceased by his mother Marrigje, father Dirk Visser; sisters Adriana, Kuina and Adrie; brothers-in-law Fred, John, Bastiaan; and in-laws Bernie, Orla, Brian and Allan. Ted was born on October 14, 1938. His family came to Canada from Holland in 1954. Ted worked as a candy maker with Progress Candy for many years, and then as a custodian for the River East school division for twenty-five years. Ted enjoyed interacting with everyone he worked with, and many friendships were formed that lasted throughout Ted's life. Ted's many hobbies included stamp collecting, metal detecting, travelling and puzzling. Ted was a friend to all. He loved people and loved putting a smile on everyone's face. A special thank you goes out to the staff at Concordia Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. January 28, 2015 at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. Donations may be made in Ted's memory to Union Gospel Mission or Heart and Stroke.

  • Uncle Ted was always a great joy to be around. He always had that mischievous glint in his eye whenever he had a funny story or joke to tell. He was so proud of all his handyman crafts and his garden. He was so talented in many ways. Uncle Ted was a giving generous man. I remember the giant candy cane he made and gave our family of five kids. It was huge and so good! Auntie Penny and Uncle Ted were inseparable and did so much together. After Uncle retired they travelled to many places. I loved it so much when they would come out for a visit to "see the countryside" and a cup of coffee. Then he'd ask "you got any stamps hanging around for me?" We will miss his sense of humour and wonderful smile. God bless all his beautiful family with strength and comfort in knowing that (uncle) Ted has his reward in a heavenly home - Posted by: Margaret Knutson (Niece) on: Jan 26, 2015
