Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLORIA MARIE CHEMERYNSKY (nee KULEBA) With heavy but loving hearts we announce the passing of Gloria Chemerynsky at the Tuxedo Villa on January 30, 2015. Gloria was predeceased by her loving husband Bohdan, sister Jean, and brother-in-law Frank. She is survived by her five nieces and nephews and their families: Grant (Carole), Pam (Rob), Lori, Mark (Bonnie) and Sandra, as well as many cousins. Gloria is also survived by her sister Patricia Garm of Vancouver. Gloria was born in Willen, Manitoba on June 24, 1925. After attending Normal School in Regina, Gloria began a teaching career that spanned over 39 years and included Kindergarten to Grade 12 at schools in Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New York City, USA and Manitoba. During this time she received both a Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education. Gloria's final teaching position was at Garden City Collegiate where she taught French for almost 20 years. Although Gloria never had children of her own she always took a keen interest in all those around her and loved to learn of their interests, careers and travels. These happy years included two homes overlooking the Red River as well as many travels throughout Europe and the Caribbean. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Gloria's wonderful lifelong friends and caregivers for their loving support. Their care and devotion made independent living a possibility for Gloria until the age of 87. A service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel on February 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., led by Msgr. M. Comeault, with a reception to follow. An interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Madame Chemerynsky was my French instructor in Grades 11 and 12 @ Garden City Collegiate. I have to agree with Stephen Reich whom I do not know personally. I am a firm believer that because of Gloria C, I also became fluent not only in French, but in a couple of other languages as well. Due to her, I still use my French speaking skills many times per week with clients, acquaintances, friends and some relations. Because of that, I continue to learn other (usually Latin based) languages and my paternal and maternal one to the point I am near fluent in them. I am grateful that she encouraged me to come out of my shell, pushed me harder in her classes as she loved my accent and ability to speak well in French. She often told me how proud she was of me. Gloria Chemerynsky was a kind and very animated instructor and I looked forward to her classes as they were full of enthusiasm, vim and vigor. On occasion I would run into her when I worked Downtown and we always had a heartfelt chat with lots of smiles and memories of our classes and then a hug. I am saddened to learn of her passing but comforted she had a full and wonderful life with her husband and so enjoyed her worldly travels. I reflect on my memories of Madame Gloria Chemerynsky and say merci encore et Reposez en paix - Posted by: Brad Kittner (Former Student) on: Feb 12, 2015

Mme. Chemerynsky was my French teacher in Grades 10 and 11 at Garden City Collegiate. It is because of her that I became fluent not only in French, but in other languages too. Mme. Chemerynsky brought French to life and was a true character and educator. Although I have not seen her in 30 years, I just wanted to post a tribute, perhaps on behalf of all her former GC students. Merci, Madame! Tu etais merveilleuse! - Posted by: Stephen Reich (Former student) on: Feb 05, 2015

Our condolences for the loss of Gloria. Like her sister Jean, Gloria had a talent for making life enjoyable and interesting for people around her. Bev remembers having a delightful time at Gloria and Bhodan's home when in Winnipeg attending Elaine (Springer) Primeau's wedding. Karyn recalls meeting Gloria and Bhodan at the Bosworth's shortly after they moved to Dutnall Road. Thinking of family and knowing sadness will pass and cherished memories will remain. - Posted by: Beverly Wilson & Karyn Woodland (Cousins) on: Feb 05, 2015

Cousin Gloria was always in the family. She would visit us in the States, or we would see her in Canada. Her life was very interesting - she would tell stories of life in Flin Flon or wherever she would be teaching. Her Ukrainian Wedding was a wonderful 3-day affair! She and Bohdan really appreciated each other. They complimented each other very well. They were very gracious to us each time we got together. I last saw her several years ago. The same sweetness was still there. Gloria will live on in my memory as a wonderful lady who started with a tough life, but chose to make it wonderful. Rest in peace, Gloria - you are back with your Buddy. - Posted by: Walter "Joe" Kelly (Cousin) on: Feb 04, 2015

Gloria came into my life when I was in grade 7 and taught me through grade 10. We became friends and stayed in contact for many years. She was a lovely person and enriched my life in so many ways. She was very interested in me and made me feel very special. Our relationship continued for many years. One special memory I have was when she and Bohdan invited my husband, children, and me to spend a Christmas evening with them. It was wonderful! She will truly be missed by many whose lives she touched! - Posted by: Betty Hencel née Schwarzberg (former student and friend) on: Feb 04, 2015
