ROSE MORAWSKI On February 5, 2015, at Concordia Hospital, our beloved Auntie Rose passed away peacefully at the age of 90, with family at her side. She was predeceased by her parents Julian and Anastasia, her sisters and brothers: Min, Julie, Walter (Ann Morris), Anne (Pat Sapiak), Stanley (Nellie Morawski), nephew Walter Morris, Bertha, and brother-in-law Elmer. Rose is survived by her sister Angela. Rose will be missed by all her nieces and nephews: Marge (Noël), Betty, Ken (Val), Barbara (Jack), Patti (Elliott), Jennifer (Mike), Gerald (Joanne), Tom (Elaine), Bob (Susanne), Kathy (Bruce), Susan (Ron), Terry (Roger), Susan (Joe) and their families. Auntie Rose also enjoyed her numerous great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved and cherished. In her early years, Rose attended Holy Ghost School and Church and in later years became a life-long parishioner of St. Alphonsus Church. She was a woman of great faith and a dedicated member of the Third Order of St. Francis. There, she volunteered her time and talents, helping the less fortunate in the downtown inner-city area. Rose's "bakery" career started out in the 1950s at Picardy's, at Donald and Portage. In the 1960s and 1970s, her career continued as supervisor of all the Safeway bakeries in Winnipeg, where she excelled in sales, in decorating and in her marvelous people skills. Rose was a loving, kind, generous person, full of life; always laughing, joking and spreading joy to all those around her. The family would like to thank the caring, compassionate staff at River East Personal Care Home for their love and support of our dear Auntie Rose, a place she called home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 13, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe Avenue and Brazier Street with viewing starting at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow later at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Donations may be made in Rose's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 204-586-8044

  • Rose was a client of mine at Scotia Bank for many years. I am also a member of St Alphonsus and talked with her at church when she attended. When she came into my office I knew I was going to get a good laugh. She had an amazing sense of humor and was full of vitality. I looked forward to our meetings. I went to visit her when she moved into her assisted living and from everything she said, I am sure she livened up the place. I am sorry for your loss and I am sure she will be deeply missed. - Posted by: joan vanstone (financial advisor at scotiabank rose was a friend and client) on: Feb 12, 2015

  • To the whole Winiarz Family, We would like to express our heart-felt sympathy in the sudden loss of your sweet & most loved Sister & Auntie Rose. I have fond memories of the days when she was working in the Safeway Bakery & then Marge kept me well up-to-date on her condition as she & Bertha grew older. I remember Rose as always "Smiling." She had an upbeat personality. I know that the family will miss their Auntie Rose very much; but the happy memories of life with their Aunt Rose will live on forever. With our deepest sympathy & love, Ginny & Lloyd & Laurel Aasen West Vancouver, B.C. - Posted by: Ginny Aasen (Friend of the Winiarz family ) on: Feb 11, 2015

  • Aunt Rose your love and caring, generous and hilarious sense of humour was a true gift to our family. As a great-niece I was so lucky to learn about Shopping downtown at The Bay, to hear stories of your trips and sense of fun and how exciting you were. Aunt Rose was always there for us and I will remember her with much love. Marlo - Posted by: Marlo Cooley (Great Niece) on: Feb 10, 2015
