ESTEBAN (STEVE) DMITROWICZ July 23, 1943 - February 4, 2015 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Steve at the age of 71 after a hard and courageous battle with cancer. With his beloved wife and family by his side, he started his journey to be with the Lord. Steve was born in Misiones, Argentina, in 1943 and immigrated to Canada in 1968. Steve worked very hard to create a life for himself in Canada and provide for his family. In 1975 he married Elaine Wittmeier and together raised their two daughters who he loved and cherished. Steve was known for his love of gardening and cooking and, most of all, for the joy it brought him when his family was all together. Steve and Elaine became one being near the end of his life, devoted to one another through the difficult days. Steve was never alone and took comfort in knowing his wife was always by his side. Steve is survived by his wife Elaine, daughters Janine Yuriy (Trevor) and Tara Weiss (Bryan) along with his three beloved grandchildren Logan, Morgan and Carter. He is also survived by his brothers Juan, Bill (Rosa), Alejandro (Ibaldina), sister Maria, sister-in-law Evelyn and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his parents Stefan and Ana, and siblings Pedro, Anastasia, Gregorio and sister-in-law Eugenia. A special thank you to Bill and Rosa for their love and support in Steve's final days. The family would also like to thank the staff in Unit GB3 and staff and volunteers at CancerCare Manitoba for their care and compassion. Rest peacefully, Tato. We will wait for the yellow bird. As per Steve's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date for close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Canadian Cancer Society.

  • I remember Elaine's stories of Steve's back yard pig roasts which he did all himself even finding the right farmer to supply him with the right pig. Steve was always on an adventure and was a character, always out for the "shock" factor! To your whole family, we embrace you as we know Steve will be missed. May you find a loving PEACE as you think of Steve knowing his is no longer in pain. With Love... - Posted by: Wendy and Joe Krupnik (Friends) on: Feb 07, 2015

Love is of God. - Posted by: Tim & Leslie Turenne (Aquaintence) on: Feb 07, 2015
