LEROY (ROY) JOHN FOWLER Peacefully on February 11, 2015, at Grace Hospital, Roy Fowler passed away at the age of 82 years. Roy leaves to mourn his passing his wife Louise of 57 years; sons Brad (Bonnie) and Jeff (Sherry); grandchildren Elizabeth (Erik), Eric and Dawson; great-grandchildren Tristan and Callum. He also leaves to mourn brothers Bob, Albert, Gord, Eddie, Tom, Frank and their spouses; sister-in-law Marie as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Eunice; sister Ivy and brother Norman. Born in Carlyle, Saskatchewan, Roy came to McCreary, Manitoba, in 1937 where he grew up until moving to Winnipeg in 1950. Here he worked for Parish Farms before moving to Dickson Motors where he eventually opened and managed the Empress Esso Station until 1977. Later he became partners with Harold Jenson at Jenson Motors Ltd.before semi-retiring where he thoroughly enjoyed delivering parts to Elie, St. Eustache and Oak Bluff for Piston Ring for the next 22 years. Roy was an avid traveler, he and Louise spent time in Austria, Switzerland, England, etc. They loved stopping in Germany to visit Brad, who was stationed there with the Canadian Military. They also loved travelling Canada visiting Jeff whose banking career had brought him to Dawson Creek, B.C. and Iqaluit, Nunavut. Some of the other hobbies he and Louise enjoyed were ballroom and pattern dancing as well as slow pitch. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors at CancerCare Manitoba and Grace Hospital as well as all of the friends and neighbors who have given their support during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Siloam Mission. Memorial service 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015, at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive.
