CHRISTINE RENAUD (nee MISTELBACHER) March 31, 1927 - February 11, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Christine Renaud on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by Mutta; her father Karl; Grandma Renaud; Adele and Maurice DeMeyer; Charlie and Helen Mistelbacher; Ernie and Cecile Mistelbacher; brothers Adolf Mistelbacher and Frank Mistelbacher; sisters Mary and Theresa Whitford; sister-in-law Lorraine Renaud; brother-in-law Ken Sedo; and extended family friends Joseph and Therese Huber. Lovingly, she will be remembered by those left to cherish her memory. Christine is survived by her husband of 68 years, Marcel Renaud; her daughters Eileen Meissner (Wayne Wagner), Marlene (Don) Munroe; grandchildren David (Carrie) Munroe, Ricky (Laure) Meissner, Darlene Meissner, Andrew (Johanna) Munroe; great-grandchildren Michaela, Paul, Mackenzie, Leia, Winter, Morgan, Colin, Skylar, and Caleb, all with whom she had a very special relationship; brother Johnny (Carol) Mistelbacher; sisters-in-law Doreen Mistelbacher and Stella Mistelbacher; cousin Tony (Anna) Mistelbacher; in-laws John Renaud, Leo (Camille) Renaud, Dick (Janet) Renaud, Paul (May) Renaud, Gerry (Helen) Renaud, Rita (Bob) Carrette, May Schmidt, Ida Sedo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Ardagga, Austria on March 31, 1927 and immigrated with her family to Canada in 1932 at the age of five. She grew up in Prairie Grove and was raised on the family farm where, together with her family, she faced many hardships and gained many fond memories. For years, Christine's family hosted the Prairie Grove Barn Dance, where she formed lifelong friendships, and discovered her lifelong love of music and dancing. While living in Prairie Grove she met Marcel, and on October 12, 1946, Mom and Dad were married, and then moved to St. Boniface where they went on to share a long and loving relationship. Together, they worked to provide a wonderful home for us. Christine devoted her life to raising her family. Mom was an amazing homemaker, and our home was always fragrant with the aroma of home cooking and fresh baking. Life on Dugas Street was abundant with family, friends and neighbourhood children always present. She was "Auntie Teen" to all our many cousins. After Dad retired, they moved to Grande Pointe where Christine continued to enjoy her love of gardening. During these years, she was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren. Mom's fondest memories were watching them grow from babies to adults. Mom and Dad were a true couple as they did everything together and were never apart. They loved camping with family and made numerous trips throughout Canada and the United States. Mom and Dad were very fortunate to discover the joy of cruising and they sailed with family on many occasions to Europe, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Mom's most meaningful trip was when she took her two daughters to Austria, where she introduced them to family and her place of birth. After their years in Grande Pointe, Mom and Dad simplified their life by moving to their apartment in St. Boniface, where they made new friends and renewed old friendships. Mom continued to be active and participated in bocce and shuffleboard. As always, she remained a competitive card player. Christine always welcomed visitors and treasured her time with her family, especially with her great-grandchildren. Christine will be lovingly missed by all who knew her; we will be comforted by our memories of her. Grandma, rest in peace.... A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., with viewing at 9:30 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
