J. PATRICK ERSKINE It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of J. Patrick Erskine, 62, in the evening hours of February 17, 2015, with much of his family by his side. Patrick was born April 10, 1952 to his predeceased parents, Joan Mortenson and Arthur Erskine. Dedicating his 29 year career to youth work at the Manitoba Youth Centre, Pat was recognized most for his loyalty and how he always saw the best in those around him. He was predeceased by his sister, Leslie and is remembered by his stepsister Nancy, his loving children: James (Bria), Garrett (Charyssa) and Courtney, as well as his three adoring grandchildren, Rhys, Amelia and Eli. A celebration of Patrick's life will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Covenant Church, 1229 Windermere Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patrick's honour can be made to a cause dear to his heart: Teen Challenge. VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME 204-668-3151

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I could not have had a better cousin. Patrick and I did not get to know each other well until about 15 years ago, after I became a born again Christian. He was my closest friend from that point on, even though I live in the USA and he was in Winnipeg. We made two great road trips together when he came to the west coast and I would spend time with him whenever I came to Winnipeg. He was a great comfort when my parents passed away and really was the only man in my entire family with whom I could share our Faith. He grew up in much more difficult circumstances than I did, but that only led him to Faith much earlier than me. We talked about everything and I will miss his comforting, calm outlook at whatever adversity appeared. He was a true man of Faith, a devout Christian. - Posted by: John Ellis (Cousin) on: Apr 24, 2015

  • Pat was a strong advocate for youth and a valued co-worker. His dedication to the kids and his patience with them was beyond the usual. Pat was generous with second chances; a great collaborator and will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Mira and Cheryl (Co Workers ) on: Feb 23, 2015

  • I worked with Patrick at MYC for many, many years. He was a true gentleman, in the best sense of the word. Pat was a kind, sensitive, intelligent, funny man. He had so much understanding and compassion for the troubled youth that he worked with, and they cared about, and respected him for this. He always had time for the kids, no matter how objectionable others may have found them. Good-bye my friend. You were a star. - Posted by: Peggy Holmes (Co-worker, MYC) on: Feb 22, 2015

  • Patrick was a great man. Very dedicated and genuine in helping others. Always had a kind thing to say and a great story to share. I'll miss our visits in the passing and hope you are resting at peace my friend. - Posted by: Marina Medeiros (Co worker) on: Feb 21, 2015

  • I met Pat many years ago when I was dating his sister Leslie. He was a good brother and treated me very well. I'm glad to see he went into a field of work that suited him and gave him a great and lasting legacy. RIP!! - Posted by: Randy Heatherington (Acquaintance ) on: Feb 21, 2015

  • First time I met Patrick was at the Alpha course at the church. He always had a very calming way about him. He was very knowledgeable and Tim and I learned a lot from him. I admired him for the work that he did. He will be missed. - Posted by: Heidi Hellsten (friend from Riverwood Church) on: Feb 21, 2015
