VIOLET (VI) HRYNKOW (nee ANAKA) May 31, 1932 - February 5, 2015 Our Mom was born in Winnipeg at the St. Boniface Hospital on May 31, 1932 and passed away February 5, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband George of 38 years, as well as her parents Anthony and Mary Anaka and brother Allen Anaka. Mom is survived by her son David (Audrey); daughter Gina and grandsons Josiah and Jayden Fulawka; sisters Liz (Allan) Stewart and Shirley (Victor) Stinson, brother Ernie Anaka; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. At a fairly young age, her family moved to Plumas, MB where the government supplied land to start a family country homestead. Mom mentioned about enjoying horseback riding with her friend and helping out her family with the country lifestyle. At around 16 years of age she moved back to the city of Winnipeg where she had a variety of different jobs. When her youngest sister Shirley was born she went back to Plumas for awhile to help her mom with the baby. Mom later returned to Winnipeg and met the love of her life, George. They married on October 19, 1963. Mom loved gardening and had many "over the fence" visitors commenting on how big and amazing her tomatoes were. The house was always surrounded by beautiful flowers, and she took such great care of her yard. Mom was employed at the Transcona Medical Centre for many years as a receptionist, and was kind and helpful to all the patients and staff alike. In the summer of 2012 she was diagnosed with cancer. Mom was an amazing, courageous patient, always willing to continue with her treatments, and always with such a tremendous positive attitude. She was a kind, loving, generous person, and an outstanding Grandma to her grandchildren, Josiah and Jayden. Mom had a great trust in God and knew that God always had a way of working things out. You will be missed, but never forgotten. We love you Mom. The family wishes to especially thank Dr. Brandes and all of his nurses and staff for the great care they provided to Mom. Also, thank you to all the Concordia Hospital staff who were there for our Mom and Grandma on her last days. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 12. Donations in memory of Mom may be made to the Breast Cancer Society, CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of one's choice. Your inner beauty will always amaze us; Your love will always inspire us.
