DOROTHY MAY WAUGH
Date of Passing: Feb 15, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MAY WAUGH (nee JARVIS) 1918 - 2015 Peacefully with her daughter by her side, on February 15, 2015, Dorothy passed away at Concordia Hospital at the age of 96. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband William (Bill), daughters Joan and Susan, and granddaughter Elizabeth Ann. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Frances (Tom), son-in-law Owen (Gloria), granddaughters Heather (John), Kathleen (Dave), Jessica (Dietrich), Christine and Shelley (Brad), six great-grandchildren and many very close friends. Born and raised in St. Vital, she married Bill on June 10, 1942 and went with him to his various postings during the Second World War. After Bill was discharged from the war in 1945, they settled on family farmland in East St. Paul to raise their three daughters. Bill and Dorothy spent many years travelling around the world and spent twenty four years wintering in Mesa, Arizona with numerous friends. They were a part of a square dance group and the Manitoba Sunny Sam's RV group. She was also an active member of St. Catherine's Anglican Church, and the Lorne Hill Ladies Club. Several years after Bill passed away, Dorothy decided to move into Concordia Village where she enjoyed several clubs and groups and even performed in several Christmas plays. She continued to travel with family and friends to Europe as recently as 2013 at the age of 93. Always in good spirits and the life of the party, Dorothy was a very social person and was always inviting company in for happy hour or even just for a quick visit. She was always willing to go places and even on weekend camping trips, as long as she had someone to give her a ride. She was a spunky lady and oftentimes had an opinion of any topic being discussed at the time. She spent her final years in good health, her mind remarkably sharp and even enjoyed a game of crib every now and then. She also enjoyed sitting back and watching friends and family interact with each other. The family would like to thank Dr. Cindy Pachal and the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion in Dorothy's final days. Flowers are gratefully declined in lieu of a donation to a charity of one's choice. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, followed by interment at Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
