GEORGE (JIRI) PICHL March 5, 1936 - February 25, 2015 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, we announce the passing of George (Jiri). He was a devoted, loving husband and father. George will be lovingly remembered and missed by Jana, his wife of 53 years; son George (Belle); his dog Sandy, and the many friends that were able to share in his fun-loving nature. His biggest passion was the outdoors, always tanning in his lawn chair, and spending time with his wife and dog at Big Whiteshell Lake during the summer. For many years, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to watch hockey and soccer on TV, and nothing could pry him away from the Lawrence Welk Show on Sunday nights. Coming to Canada with his wife and son from the Czech Republic in 1969, George was a proud Czech and was loved and respected by many in the Czech community. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no service. If friends so desire, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 204-787-2197. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193

Sad to see such a great friend and camping buddy leave us at this time. George you will be missed sitting around the camp fires and enjoying having a drink. We had the pleasure of meeting George and Jana at Big Whitshell a couple years ago. It was always a thrill to go out there during the week as they would be there. We will miss him and his sense of humour. He always had the ladies in giggles and his "Lapolice" jokes....you are in our thoughts and we wish we could give you a hug.
