OLGA KACHKAN (nee SUL) August 18, 1921 February 26, 2015 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Baba and Great Baba on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the wonderful age of 93. Baba is survived by her daughters Cheryl Kruse and Pat Jopka (Darren), her five grandchildren Dana Todd (Bart), Deanne Morgan (Brent), Darci Karaibrahimovic (Meho), Shanna Bérard (Paul), Chelsey Walchuk (Casey) and great-grandchildren Spencer, Jackson, Kade, Ollie and Loik and many special relatives and friends. Olga was predeceased by her husband Steve, her siblings Peter and Mary and her sister-in-law and best friend Olga Siimcoe. Baba was the matriarch of our family and the person we most wanted to be like. She will always be remembered for her fun-loving and kind spirit, her sense of humour and most of all her sheer stubborn Ukrainian will! She was known as Baba to one and all. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 2 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 505 Watt Street with Rev. Dr. M. Kwiatkowski officiating. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bart Todd, Brent Morgan, Meho Karaibrahimovic, Paul Berard, Casey Gooch, Tony Zerucha. Thank you to Olga's neighbours who always watched out for her. A special thank you to the gracious nursing staff and doctors at Concordia Hospital for their compassion and care. Flowers are gratefully declined, those so desiring may make a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I first met Olga last summer. She was in the back lane asking with concern where her friend Mary Horbal was. I, Carolyn Horbal and my son Matthew Horbal, were preparing Mary's vegetable garden for the summer. As soon as you spoke to Olga you knew she was a kind and loving person! We told her Mary was now living at Holy Family Nursing home. My son Matthew, who is now living in Mary's house, ran into Olga and would give her a big hug whenever she came by. Mary Horbal just heard she passed away and wanted me to look up her obituary. We are very sorry for your loss! Mary was her lifelong friend and neighbour on Jamison Ave. - Posted by: Mary Horbal (Friend and Neighbour) on: Apr 24, 2015

  • Sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother, etc. She was a lovely lady, talked to her every day when she was on her walk, lived behind her house on Jamison ave. - Posted by: Janine, Anne Pearson, Kailyn & Kelly (Neighbour ) on: Mar 01, 2015
