Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER FRIESEN Peter Friesen was born in Blumenfeld, Manitoba to Johann and Katherina Friesen on December 28, 1921 and died peacefully, with his wife Mary by his side, after a brief illness, on March 12, 2015 at the age of 93. Peter is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary, sister Mary (George) Elias; children Brian (Gayle), Marilyn, Ruth (Vince) Folgizan, Esther (Peter) Vandenberg; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by parents Johann and Katherina, brothers John and George, sisters Katherine and Elizabeth, and two siblings in infancy. Peter was very social. He loved a good chuckle and his daily coffee at Tim Hortons. Funeral service will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street, with viewing prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery in Springstein, Manitoba. Donations in Peter's memory may be made to Mennonite Central Committee. FRIENDS FUNERAL HOME 204-339-5555

While our move to Vancouver, BC, separated us physically, I remember the spirit of how we usde to gather in Winnipeg, revitalize the bonds of community, the laughter, the play. I remember, too, Dad - brother John, and you had strong familial ties. Although I didn't know it then, you were a stalwart in the family, most certainly yours, and always pleasant to me. For just a moment, I'm imagining you and Dad (John) having met wherever you are, once again walking the main street of Blumenfeld, brushing away the flies, looking at the homes, the gardens, the livestock ... looking forward to 'the rest of your life'.
