My husband Archie and I lived across the street from Bill and Olga on the corner of Evanson Street for many years. We have fond memories of both Bill and Olga. Bill enjoyed feeding his squirrel pets and we got quite used to them as well as they used our house and garden for their storage site. After Bill passed away, we kept in touch with Olga, either talking over the fence, bringing her a little live Christmas tree at Christmas or once in awhile having a cup of tea with her. Bill's presence was still very evident in the house. His gray hat was always beside her on her little table. When we moved to Lac du Bonnet in 2009, we didn't see much of Olga any more but we still exchanged birthday and Christmas cards. Olga's birthday was on December 13th and mine (Erika's) on the 15th. This past December was the first time that we didn't hear from Olga. I thought that she might be ill. Now I regret not getting in touch. My husband and I cannot attend Olga's funeral as we are in Thunder Bay looking after dad but our thoughts and prayers are with Olga as she is laid to rest. Olga was a unique, hard working person and we will remember her always. Rest in peace dear Olga. In sympathy and friendship.
