Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Mike. Although we did not see each other much since the days of him and Wendy working together in Real Estate Investments at Great West Life, I always followed Mike and his children through results of their sporting activities posted online! We always picked up where we left off between our encounters and I always enjoyed them and Mike. I am still shocked and saddened that I will no longer see him pedalling his bike past me at Bird's Hill Park. Our heartfelt sympathy to his family. You will be missed Mike. • I am so sorry for your loss. How deeply you must feel this loss, I cannot imagine. I will miss him both at the gym and at work. Mike always offered support, motivation and inspiration to everyone around him. We spoke often of his children and his love of the sport. We would keep each other accountable at gym class, or talk when meeting in the shared work kitchen to wash fruit, heat a lunch or passing each other in the hall. He always had a positive way about him and I can say that we will all greatly miss him. I was lucky to have known him. - Posted by: cindy hasselmann (gym mate and colleague) on: Mar 25, 2015

  • Dear Siggy and Trudy and family. We are heartbroken for your loss. We have fond memories of him from the lake and conferences that we have attended. It was a privilege to have known him and he will be terribly missed. Love to you all. - Posted by: Glenn & Carol Chudley (friends) on: Mar 24, 2015

  • Some very long days have now come and gone, since Michael's sudden, incomprehensible passing on March 10. Michael's passing is a heartache for his family, and for the family's friends. Michael's life was full; full of love for his family, his daughters, his parents. His life was busy with his successful career and sport. His parents are justified in being so proud of Michael. I have this quote to share with Michael's family: "Sorrow makes us all children again...it destroys all differences of intellect. The wisest know nothing." (R.W.E.) Peace be with you, from Andi & Family. - Posted by: Andi Cook (Family) on: Mar 22, 2015

  • I have so many fond memories of Mike. Above all his sense of service to people and community is a characteristic that made Mike such a special person. His provincial and national work with triathlon was done with vision and enthusiasm. His absence leaves a big void in the triathlon community. I'm honored to have known Mike and been able to work on so many projects together. He was a good friend who always had a warm welcome no matter how much time expired between meetings. My thoughts go to the entire family and especially his children whom he loved so much. He lived each day. - Posted by: David Markham (Friend) on: Mar 21, 2015

Wir beten fuer Euch, in Liebe Hans und Anni - Posted by: Hans and Anna Backe (Friends) on: Mar 21, 2015
