Born: Jan 16, 1928
Date of Passing: Mar 14, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERIC M. REIMER January 16, 1928 - March 14, 2015 Our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle and great friend Eric M. Reimer passed away suddenly on March 14, 2015 at the age of 87 years. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Laura, and sisters Katherine, Anne, Amanda, Charlotte, Henriette, Gracie, and brothers Frank, Otto, Werner, Paul and Peter. He will be greatly missed by his children Joy Hinkelman (Bob, a son more than a son-in-law), Garth Reimer (Jana and family), Keith Reimer, and Charmagne Reimer de Veer; grandchildren Amanda Karczewski (Kamil), Lissa Van Dorp (Justin), Stephen Reimer (Jessica) and cherished great-granddaughters Esme and Bella. He is survived and deeply missed by siblings Carl Reimer and Arlie Roberts (Wally), brothers-in-law Christopher Kennedy, Victor Reimer, Jay Delkin, Earl Kalbfleisch and Jeff Wiebe (Jorlean), as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and a great many friends especially those from Parkside Plaza, West Kildonan Curling Club, and Calvary Temple. Eric was born and raised in Steinbach, MB. In 1952 he graduated with a major in history from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, AB. He then went as a missionary to Nigeria where he married Laura, his wife of 46 years. When they returned to Manitoba he became a small business owner in several rural settings before settling in Winnipeg. Our dad was a multi-linguist with a passion for the Hausa language and people in Nigeria. He often greeted his children with "d'yawa" (I love you greatly). Eric was an avid reader (he acquired his library card this year) and the go-to guy for history in Trivial Pursuit. Our dad was a self-taught electrician, plumber, carpenter, and auto-mechanic. He was doing home reno's long before it became fashionable on HGTV! This led his reno-weary wife to encourage a pursuit of golf, curling, and other out-of-house activities for his retirement. In fact, he was the skip on his last curling game the day before his passing, AND THEY WON!!! Above all, our dad had a devout, unfaltering Christian faith that he demonstrated in every aspect of his life, always supporting his church and charities. He loved singing baritone in the choir and volunteering for the Alpha program. He was a gentleman and a gentle man. We miss you so much daddy, d'yawa. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at John Black United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Winnipeg Harvest.

Much love to all. What a friend we had. His quiet gentle, strength was a constant blessing. We miss him so. He always had a joke or wise saying to keep us laughing. He was a true gift and we are thankful for the time we had with him and his lovely family. God Bless and keep you. - Posted by: Bill & Donna Besant (Friend) on: Mar 25, 2015

I got to know Mr. Reimer through curling. He was always the gentleman, quiet, and always a smile on his face. He enjoyed the game of curling - win, lose or draw, and surprised quite a few curlers with his curling expertise. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Bob Crawley (Fellow Curler) on: Mar 24, 2015

My condolences to the family. Had the privilege of meeting Mr. Reimer through his daughter Joy. What a wonderful fun loving gentleman with whom I enjoyed my conversations with. I know that the family now have a big void in their lives and your hearts are hurting. May God Bless You all in keeping the faith through this time of sadness. - Posted by: Ron Malkowich (Friend ) on: Mar 23, 2015
