KERSTIN (KRIS) INEZ NORVACK (nee ANDERSON) On March 24, 2015, Kris Norvack passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, her home for the past six years. Kris was predeceased by her parents, Sven and Inez Anderson, her beloved Granny, Augusta Lindwall, her sister Siv Stephens and brother-in-law Jack as well as her cherished pet, Cindy Dog. Left to cherish her memory are her nieces Teri Stephens (Rick) and Kim (Don) Michalski; great nieces Katelyn, Melissa and Kyla and great nephew Patrick. She will also be greatly missed by Anne Schoenfeld and her extended family. Kris was born in Uddevalla, Sweden on September 4, 1920 and immigrated to Canada in 1928 with her family. She attended Victoria Albert and Hugh John Macdonald schools and graduated from Kelvin High School. Her working career began at downtown Eaton's. She married and moved to Toronto, returning back to Winnipeg and began working for Singer Sewing Machine Co. In 1961, she was hired by Simpson Sears at Polo Park as a sewing instructor. In 1967, she became the Fashion Co-ordinator for the store and also appeared on television during the Channel 7 morning show representing Sears. In 1971, she became the assistant manager of the China Department and there she remained until she retired in 1985. After her retirement, she returned to Sears part time and worked there for an additional six years. Her distinctive hair colour and style as well as her flair for fashion and outgoing personality made her a recognizable person on the sales floor. Kris was a long time member of the Sears Retirement Club. Kris' sewing talent was appreciated by many brides who were proud to wear the beautiful gowns that she sewed. She was always very happy that she could be part of their wedding day. Kris loved to travel, whether it be to California, Florida or with her mother and sister and brother-in-law on shopping trips to Grand Forks/Fargo. Kris was very lucky to have close friends, John and Anne Schoenfeld and their extended family who included her in many family celebrations. Kris' family is grateful for the effort shown to her by all of them, especially Anne who faithfully visited her over the past years. Kris was a fun, gracious lady who will be missed on the main floor lobby of the Convalescent Home, where she held court for the last six years. She was the "official greeter" for the Home. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Convalescent Home who cared for her so lovingly and allowed her to live her life on her own terms. We would especially like to thank the 3rd floor nursing staff for their compassionate care over the last few months. As per Kris' wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Winnipeg Humane Society or the charity of your choice. VOYAGE FUNERAL HOMES 204-668-3155

It was always a pleasure to visit with Kris at the Wpg Conv Home. My mother was in there for several years and we got to know Kris quite well. I admired her spunk, her humour and the ever-present spark of mischief in her beautiful blue eyes. Women like her are an inspiration! Rest in peace Kris. - Posted by: Carrie Rose () on: Mar 30, 2015

I have such wonderful memories of Kris. She was such a fireball with a personality that drew everyone to her. She also displayed a kindness towards others that I so admired. We shared so much laughter and good times together. I organized Kris' retirement party at the Viscount Hotel. I had 4 young men, shirtless, carry Kris in like Cleopatra. That evening we all shared many many Kris stories and so much laughter.Kris was such an important part of my life. I feel so fortunate to have had a friend like Kris, my elegant, funny, happy friend. My condolences to her family, she will be missed. - Posted by: Marta Jack (Friend and co-worker @ Sears) on: Mar 28, 2015
