Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVELTA DIRIKIS February 18, 1923 - March 27, 2015 Peacefully on March 27, 2015 at Victoria Hospital, Velta passed away at the age of 92 years. Velta is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Elmars; daughter Edite (John) Patterson of Toronto, ON; granddaughter Kristen (Colin) Chisholm and great-grandchildren Jason and Kelli Chisholm of London, ON. She was predeceased by her son Ivars in 2001. Born in Latvia, Velta survived the Second World War in Europe and immigrated to Canada with Elmars and baby Edite in 1949. The family settled in Winnipeg where she remained until her passing. She was active in the Latvian Society of Winnipeg, Folklorama and the Latvian Lutheran Congregation. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. An interment will follow in Toronto, ON at a later date.
