MARY HNATCHUK October 20, 1930 March 27, 2015 Peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Mary Hnatchuk passed away at the age of 84 years. Mary was predeceased by her parents Katherine and John Hnatchuk and her brother Steve Hnatchuk. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her step-nephew George Cudmore, her step-niece Sharon Samson and their children and her close friends and extended family. Mary grew up in the North End and Elmwood areas of Winnipeg and she attended St. John's Technical High School. After high school Mary then embarked on a secretarial career and became one of Winnipeg's top legal secretaries. After her retirement Mary resided in East Kildonan, where she practiced her passion for gardening and feeding the birds, squirrels and rabbits until her final move to the Thorvaldson Care Centre. During her stay at Thorvaldson's, Mary enjoyed taking part in the various activities, skits and games. Mary was an avid NDP supporter and kept up with politics and world affairs. She was a devoted daughter and generous in her thoughts and actions. Mary was also a very private, independent and strong willed lady, often helping those who were less fortunate than herself.
