(MARIA) ADELHEID FAST (nee MARTENS) It is with heavy yet peaceful hearts that we announce the passing into glory of our dearly loved Mother and Omi, Adelheid Fast on April 2, 2015. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Rudy Fast and her parents William and Luise Martens. She leaves to mourn her children Carla Janzen (Rheal), Rudie Fast (Michele), Marlene Penner (Chuck) and Verena Fast (Norris). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Krista, Ernest and Paul Janzen, Erika Fast and Leigh Martin, Katrina, Britta and Gabriella Penner, Nicholas, Lukas, Maya and Tia Betzing. She is also survived by her eight siblings Cornelius Martens (Tamira), Toni Dueck (David), Peter Martens (Elaine), Gerlinde Enns (Peter), Blondina Falk (Peter), William Martens (Erica), Armin Martens (Denise), and Luise Sawatzky (Larie). She is also survived by Rudy's family, Alex and Emily Fast, Edward and Helene Fast and Kaethe and Neil Wiebe. She was loved by her many nieces and nephews. Mom was born on January 12, 1940 in Filadelfia Paraguay, the eldest of nine children. She accepted Christ as her Saviour at age six, with her mother at her side. At age 14, she moved to Winnipeg with her family and adjusted to life here. She was baptized at 16 in the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, where she remained a lifelong active member. She married teacher Rudy Fast on February 25, 1961 with whom she spent 46 blessed years. Mom's unwavering faith was evident in how she lived her life, now a legacy and inspiration for many. Mom valued family relationships highly, seeking every opportunity to bring us together. She will be dearly missed. The family wishes to thank Dr. Moffat, Dr. Daeninck and the Palliative Care Team for their compassion and care throughout her illness. "Der Herr ist mein Hirte, mir wird nichts mangeln." Psalm 23:1 Celebration of life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road, with viewing prior to the service. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I will always remember Mr and Mrs Fast because they were the deacons for our family for many many years from North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church. She and her husband both were such sincere and real people and loved with a genuine love. I always enjoyed a friendly chat with her whenever our paths would cross. My parents Heinrich and Justa (Friesen) Pauls held Mr and Mrs Fast in high regard. She will be missed. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Reinhold Heinrich Pauls (friend from church from many years ago) on: Apr 06, 2015
