  • Dear Nettie, or as we have come to call her "Omama". We first met Nettie through her daughter Hilda forty some odd years ago. We instantly felt welcomed by her natural ability to embrace new friends. It was not long after that she invited our family to the farm for the afternoon and dinner. Our children had never been on a farm and it was high time too. On the drive out, our three year old son was so excited to see a man riding a horse in the ditch and exclaimed, "look mommy there's a man on a jumping cow!" Poor deprived child. That was soon rectified by a day at Oma Krahn's We got to see the chickens and where eggs really came from (not just Safeway), and they played with the big "outside" dog, followed by a fabulous meal that Oma was so well known for. What a day it was! We will always be grateful for that experience. There were many occasions to meet Nettie through the years to follow. After our move to Calgary we exchanged Christmas cards for many years. We were so impressed with her tenacity after she broke her hip. She was a woman of courage to the end. We are privileged to have known you Nettie. Thank you for your kindness. Rest in the peace you so well deserve. Barb and Bob Friesen - Posted by: Barbara Friesen (Friend) on: Apr 16, 2015
