JOSEPH BRYGIDYR It is with heavy hearts and tearful goodbyes we announce the passing of our father Joseph Brygidyr who was born in Winnipeg on March 4, 1921 and passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the ripe old age of 94. He will be sadly missed by his children: Gail (Lenny), Jo-Anne (Gary); grandchildren: Lyle (Tiffany), Michelle, Chase, Jesse and Austin; great-grandchildren: Brendan and Breanne; plus numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his loving wife Julie in 2011; mother Katherine; father John; brothers Norman, Walter and Steve; and sisters-in-law Phyllis and Irene. Dad served in the R.C.A.F. from 1942 - 1944 and served in the R.C.A.S.C. from 1944 1945. On June 4, 1948, dad began his service with Winnipeg Hydro as a Labourer in the Stores Purchasing Branch. He was promoted to a Warehouseman on June 1, 1951. On July 16, 1957, he became a Storeman and then again promoted to Warehouse Foreman on March 8, 1970. Dad retired in 1985 and then he began to enjoy his life with mom spending time camping, fishing, berry picking, wood-working and puttering in his garage. He had a passion for building Purple Martin Birdhouses and was a one-time member of the Purple Martin Club. Dad spent his final months in an Assisted Living Retirement Community where he enjoyed the company of a few good friends. A special thank-you to Dorothy and Grace for your patience with our dad! You made his last months enjoyable. Honoree pallbearers are Lyle Allard, Brendan Allard, Chase Gardner, Jesse Gardner and Austin Gardner. A small service will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a light lunch at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. A private family burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of our dad may be made to a charity of one's choice. 204-586-8044
